Where is The Tiny Pony Parlour based?

We are located just outside in Caton near Lancaster in the heart of the Lune Valley and just 20 minutes from the Lake District. Full directions are provided in your booking confirmation.

What activities do you offer?

We offer boutique pony parties (at our venue or mobile), pamper sessions, individual pony experiences, and visits to schools, events, and care homes.

What is the age range for participants?

Our activities are generally suitable for children aged 3 and up. Children under 3 cannot interact with ponies for safety reasons.

Is there a weight or height limit for pony rides?

Yes. Standard ponies have a weight limit of 30kg and height limit of 1.3m. Larger ponies may accommodate up to 45kg and 1.4m (by prior arrangement.)

Do you provide riding helmets?

Yes. We provide high-standard, kite-marked helmets. You may bring your own if it meets current UK safety standards, however we do not recommend and you do so at your own risk.

What should children wear?

Children should wear trousers or leggings and closed-toe footwear, sturdy boots or wellies are ideal. Our insurance requires shoes that offer protection in case a pony accidentally steps on toes. Please avoid open-toed shoes, flimsy wellies, or delicate canvas footwear. An old pair of winter school shoes is often better than light summer shoes.

Children are welcome to dress up for the occasion, but dresses should always be worn with leggings for safety and comfort.

As this is an outdoor activity, please ensure children (and adults) are dressed appropriately for the weather. Even on warm days, a light outer layer may be needed as ponies are handled at a slow pace. On colder days, we recommend warm coats (ideally two layers such as a fleece and a waterproof), hats, gloves, and even double socks.

We provide safety standard hard hats, which must be worn while riding.

What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?

We continue in most weather conditions. Light rain or drizzle won’t stop the fun, as we have an indoor sand arena to use so your session can still go ahead comfortably and safely.

What happens if the weather is very bad?

In the case of extreme weather such as high winds, thunder, or lightning, we will relocate the session to our indoor sand arena. If conditions are deemed unsafe even indoors, we will contact you to postpone and issue a voucher of equal value. Safety is always our priority.

How many adults can attend?

For parties at our venue, we welcome one adult per child attending. The birthday child may have additional adults if needed.

For individual pony experiences, we kindly ask that no more than two adults accompany each participating child, to help maintain a calm and safe atmosphere.

We are a small, private yard set in a beautiful and relaxed environment, which makes The Tiny Pony Parlour a truly unique and special experience for families and children.

Are there toilets and handwashing facilities?

Yes. We have an outdoor toilet and handwashing area next to the stables with sanitiser and wipes and also baby change facilities.

Can I bring my dog?

No, unfortunately we kindly ask that dogs are not brought to the premises, including being left in parked vehicles, to ensure the safety and comfort of our ponies and guests.

Is there Parking?

You will be advised where to park in your confirmation email and signage will direct you on arrival. Parking may be in our house drive or one of our nearby fields.

As we are a small venue with limited parking, we kindly ask that you car share or arrive in as few vehicles as possible wherever practical. This helps us manage space and ensures a smoother experience for all guests.

Our Venue

Unless we are attending a private party at your location, all activities take place at our private yard, which is also our family home. We kindly ask that you respect our privacy during your visit.

Children must be supervised at all times and should remain within the designated party areas, this includes the stables and the enclosed indoor and outdoor pony spaces. For everyone’s safety, children must not wander beyond these areas unless accompanied by a member of staff.

Is there food on site?

We do not have a cafe but we sometimes offer light refreshments such as coffee and teas for adults and juice and biscuits for children in our party room.

Are there any other safety considerations?

Yes. To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for everyone, we ask that you follow these important guidelines:

  • No smoking is allowed anywhere on site due to the presence of hay and straw, which are highly flammable
  • No ball or throwing games, sudden movements or flying objects can startle the ponies.
  • No running near the ponies, it’s important to keep the environment calm and predictable for everyone’s safety.

Our ponies are very used to children and noise, but we do expect respectful behaviour at all times. We reserve the right to ask parents to remove any children who are behaving in a way that may distress the ponies or other visitors.

At The Tiny Pony Parlour, we believe in creating truly enchanting experiences that feel as special and unique as the children attending. Our boutique setting is designed for magical moments, gentle pony encounters, and joyful memories shared with loved ones. While our safety guidelines ensure a calm and secure environment, our heartfelt aim is for every guest, from little ones to grown ups, to feel immersed in the charm and delight of our pony world. Whether it’s your first visit or one of many, we can’t wait to welcome you into the magic.
